It’s National Cheese Pizza Day, and you bet we’re leaning all the way in.
Cheese and pizza belong together. Always have. Always will. Sure, there are many excellent cheeseless pies in this world—olive oil bases, vegan creations, even tomato-less rebels that break all the rules and still manage to charm. But let’s admit it: when most of us picture pizza fresh out of the oven, it’s not just the crust or the sauce that makes our mouths water.
It’s the stretch.
That glorious, melty, slow-motion pull of hot cheese from pie to plate, followed by the inevitable collapse of mozzarella as it drops mouthward. Maybe I watched too much TV as a kid, but that cheese stretch is part of the pizza ritual as deeply as the first bite or the napkin shuffle when the heat catches up with you.
At Tomato Head, we’re not shy about the cheese. Case in point: the
#4 Four Cheese Pizza
Mozzarella Provolone Blend · Fresh Mozzarella · Parmesan · Garlic Oil Base
This isn’t just a pile-on. It’s a ropadope of texture and flavor. Each cheese brings something specific to the party: the mozzarella and provolone do the classic melt-and-stretch work; the fresh mozzarella adds a soft, slightly creamy freshness that lifts the bite; and then there’s parmesan—the ultimate flavor bomb, salty and punchy, that ties the whole thing together like the rug in The Big Lebowski.
Of course, we love all cheeses here. So we also make room for the Goat.
If you’ve never tasted the #7 goat cheese + roasted tomato sauce combo, allow us to gently insist that today is the day. There’s a kind of food alchemy that happens when roasted tomato—intensified, darkened, almost jammy—meets the tang of goat cheese. It’s creamy, it’s bright, and it’s a bite that will make you blink and lean in for another before you’ve even swallowed.
And speaking of alchemy:
#11 Roma Tomato · Ricotta · Blue Cheese · Walnut · Garlic Oil Base
That’s not just a pizza. That’s a reckoning.
My 10-year-old self would’ve screamed “Let’s go back to cheese!” but grown-up me? I crave the wild and unexpected depth of this combination. The tangy-salty punch of blue cheese. The cooling cloud of ricotta. The slightly sweet, warm crunch of toasted walnuts. It’s intense. It’s elegant. It’s the kind of pizza you eat with both hands and a little disbelief.
